The Salon That Was Invisible Online:

GlamourNails & Spa had a problem that's surprisingly common: their work was gorgeous, but their website? Not so much. Picture a talented artist with an amazing portfolio trapped behind frosted glass- that's what their online presence felt like.

The owner, kathy, showed me their analytics with frustration. "We get tons of Instagram followers, but our website barely gets any bookings. People are calling us instead, which means we're stuck answering phones when we should be focusing on clients."

The Challenge

Create a modern, conversion-focused website that showcases their artistry, makes booking effortless, and turns browsers into booked appointments, all while reflecting the luxury experience they provide in-person.

🚫 The Old Site Problems

  • Cluttered 2015-era design

  • No online booking system

  • Tiny, low-quality service photos

  • Hard to navigate on mobile

  • Hidden pricing

  • Slow load times (4.5 seconds)

🎯 What Customers Really Needed

  • Gorgeous portfolio showcase

  • Quick, easy booking flow

  • Clear pricing & service details

  • Mobile-first experience

  • Real customer reviews

Understanding the Real Users

Competitive Analysis That Revealed Gold

I analyzed 15 top-rated nail salons in the area. The winners all had three things in common: stunning hero images of actual work, bookings that took under 60 seconds, and prominent display of their "signature services." The losers? They treated their website like a digital business card instead of a sales tool.

Talking to Real Customers

I interviewed 8 regular clients and asked them to walk me through how they currently book appointments. The insights were eye-opening:

  • "I always check Instagram first to see their recent work, then I have to call because the website is confusing. I wish I could just book right there on my phone." — Sarah, 29

  • "I want to know who's going to do my nails. Some nail techs are better at nail art, others at extensions. But the old site didn't show that." — Jennifer, 34

Mobile-First Because That's Where Life Happens

83% of their traffic was mobile. I designed for thumbs, not mice. Big touch targets, easy scrolling, images optimized for smaller screens but still gorgeous. The booking button always in reach - always accessible, never annoying.

The Story Behind the Success

Three months after launch, Kathy sent me a message: "We hired a receptionist just to handle bookings. Now we don't need one- the website does it all. We're actually thinking of opening a second location because we have capacity now."

But my favorite feedback came from a customer review: "Finally, a nail salon website that doesn't feel like it's from 2005! Booked my appointment while waiting in line at Starbucks. So easy!"

The Real Impact: Beyond the Metrics

Yes, the numbers are impressive. But what really matters is that GlamourNails & Spa now has a digital presence that matches the quality of their work. Their staff spends less time on administrative tasks and more time doing what they love, creating beautiful nail art.

And for customers? They can book their moment of self-care in the time it takes to scroll through Instagram. No phone tag, no confusion, just a smooth path from "I want pretty nails" to "appointment confirmed."

That's design that works.
